Meets the CE requirement for ethics, jurisprudence, or cultural competence for Ohio licensure renewal.
This presentation will provide occupational therapy practitioners with an overview of ethical behavior and decision making in the field. Attendees will be provided with resources to support ethical practice and striving for excellence as they navigate everyday ethical challenges.
About the Presenters:
Marita Hensley has worked in psychiatry, skilled nursing facilities, home health, and
mobility throughout her career. She retired from the Cincinnati VA approximately 6
months ago where she worked in the mobility clinic and as student coordinator for OT.
She continues to work in OT education and volunteers for AOTA on the ethics
committee, representing OTAs. Marita has worked in OT for over 47 years and remains
passionate for the profession and the lives OT has improved.
Barbara Elleman is currently serving her second term as the practice representative on
the AOTA Ethics Commission. Barbara has been an occupational therapist for over 30
years with experience working in a variety of settings. She is an assistant professor
teaching in the Occupational Therapy Doctoral program at Xavier University and is a
pediatric occupational therapist working PRN at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical
Center. Barbara lives with her family in Northern Kentucky.
Objectives:
- Participant will identify 2-3 professional standards of conduct.
- Participant will identify 2 supports or resources for navigating ethical dilemmas.
