This course will include a complimentary dinner while learning about functional neurological disorder, a common disorder seen in inpatient rehabilitation.

Objectives:

  • Participants will be able to define Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), recognize the common symptoms, differentiate it from other neurological conditions, and apply knowledge to apply therapeutic approaches for clients diagnosed with FND.
  • Participants will gain insight into the various ways OTP can support clients with FND, focusing on developing individualized treatment plans, enhancing functional outcomes, and utilizing evidence-based intervention to address both the physical and mental aspects of the disorder.
  • Participants will learn to use reflective practices to assess their therapeutic approaches to clients with FND, critically analyzing their own clinical decisions and responses and identifying strategies for continuous professional growth and improved client care.
  • Participants will develop skills to foster empathetic communication with clients experiencing FND, cultivating an environment of trust and support and recognizing the emotional and psychological challenges that may affect client progress and treatment adherence.
