Participants will learn about the unique role of occupational therapy in Ohio’s juvenile correctional facilities and how OTP’s role can be expanded to support clients’ mental health in all settings. Presenters will share mental health treatment ideas that can be generalized to various OT settings.

Objectives:

  • Increase knowledge of the juvenile justice system in Ohio.
  • Identify the unique roles occupational therapy practitioners can fill within the juvenile justice system.
  • Provide intervention ideas that can be translated from juvenile justice to other settings.
  • Describe how OTP’s role could be expanded to support mental health roles.
